WPVA has several members volunteering their time to the Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We work with, and often purchase needed equipment for such disciplines as Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy to ensure quality medical care for our members. We also sponsor several off station outings from the hospital. These include, but are not limited to, hockey, baseball, & basketball games, concerts, museums, shopping malls, restaurants, parks, and festivals.
Zablocki VAMC SCI Unit
The Department of Veterans Affairs [DVA] Spinal Cord Injury Unit is located on the 10th floor of the A Wing of the Zablocki Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Staffed by caring and dedicated personnel, it has been providing the full continuum of care and rehabilitation services for SCI veterans since 1969.
Liaison Duties
The Chapter Hospital Liaison Officer visits and communicates with our in-patients on a regular basis. This individual also maintains an ongoing relationship with the SCI Unit Staff in an effort to solve problems and to provide assistance when possible. Patients with problems are also referred to the Patient Representative and to the PVA National Service Officer. The Wisconsin PVA Chapter Board of Directors is kept informed of Unit activities and will relay concerns to the National PVA, and take action as circumstances dictate.
